“What? I can’t do that! I can’t just go and sabotage someone else’s company. Uh-uh.” Rea said with a lot of disgust.

Marvin chuckled, “Sure, you will… if you want to keep our dirty little secret in the dark.”

“Okay, fine! I’ll do it.” Rea gave in, “Just tell me exactly what I need to do because I don’t want any holes in this plan or else my life is ruined.”

“That’s my Reannabella.” Marvin teased, “Now listen carefully. You will take a flight to Western Espansy tonight.”

Rea was about to complain but Marvin kept on speaking.

“A girl by the name of Azwall will meet you when you arrive. She will take you to a secret hideout and give you further instructions.”

There was a long silence as Rea anxiously waited for more details. Marvin seemed to have zoned out as he stared at the lit fireplace that they once spent a winter night together in front of.

“Is that all you’re going to tell me?” She eventually asked.

“Yes. Don’t worry about a thing. You know that I would never let any harm come to my precious Reannabella.” Marvin sarcastically reasured her.

“I need to pack.” Rea said as she angrilly got up. She really wasn’t enjoying the whole “Reannabella” thing. Every time he said that name, it reminded her of her shameful father.

“Don’t bother. You may not have noticed but there is a bag over there where you walked in. It’s got everything you need to travel so take it and leave immidiately. Remember, this is not a vacation… unless you’d like me to join you. I love our trips together.” Marvin teasingly commented.

Rea grabbed the bag but just as she was about to leave, Marvin got up and stood in her way.

“Hand me your cellphone. Where you are going, the last thing you need are distractions.” Marvin said with a grin.

Rea reluctantly handed over her phone and walked away, hoping that she wasn’t making a big mistake.

“Goodbye, Reannabella!” Marvin said as Rea was leaving, making sure to stress on the “Reannabella” part.

Just as Marvin instructed, Rea went straight to the airport. She didn’t have time to tell anyone at home where she was going. In fact, she was hoping that no one would notice her absence.

Late in the night, she arrived in the desert land, Western Espansy. Rea didn’t have the slightest clue of who Azwall was and she was beginning to feel uneasy that her survival was now in the hands of a woman she had never met.

At the airport, she was unexpectedly approached by a girl Alma’s age, who later introduced herself as Azwall Gratifya after a hostile first encounter with Rea. She had dark waist-length hair, wore dark clothing and had a permanent scowl on her face that added years to her appearance. The only thing that was bright about her was her grey eyes.

She couldn’t help but feel like Azwall didn’t like her. The girl made Rea walk all the way from the airport to a densely populated area, full little houses, all built close together on top of the hot, dry, desert sand.

It was the kind of place that tourists are advised avoid, that conveniently gets left out of travel brochures and websites. Rea tightly held onto her bag, afraid of the kind of people she assumed lived in such areas.
